Sad to say C isn’t for Cookies again. Kaley’s abnormal cell growth has returned. Kaley had the cell growth removed on December 19th, however the pathology report came back positive for Cancer. Sounds like, with what we know now, it is curable in that we can do another, more invasive removal including Kaley’s lymph nodes in the area and, theoretically, she will be cured. That being said, depending on what is found in _that_ pathology report it’s possible that the cancer may have metastasized into other parts of Kaley’s body therefore requiring even more treatment. We have not decided on a course of treatment yet.

The fund raiser last week was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who came out to support us, and thank you to those who couldn’t make it but supported us financially anyhow! We were able to raise enough money to cover 1 year of Kaley’s PT. We are still waiting for the numbers to come in for the donations sent directly to NTAF but we’re hoping that will be enough to help pay for some Speech therapy as well!

Thank you all so much!

The feedback I’ve gotten from the group home staff is that the PT Kaley has been doing the past 2 months has helped. They report that it is easier to help her get dressed in the morning because she has increased range of motion in her arms. She is easier to transfer because she is bearing more of her own weight when she stands. She also has increased range of motion of her legs for other cares.

Nice to get a report of improvement!

Hi All! I am pleased to announce a fundraiser to help support Kaley and help fund physical, occupational, and speech therapies! To help with these and other uninsured injury-related expenses, a fund-raising campaign in Kaley’s honor has been established with the Catastrophic Injury Program of NTAF. NTAF is a nonprofit that has been assisting the transplant community with fund-raising for more than 28 years. In 2000, NTAF expanded their mission to include individuals such as Kaley who had suffered spinal cord or catastrophic injuries. All donations are tax-deductible and are administered by NTAF for injury-related expenses only.

If you’ve met Kaley, you can’t help but be inspired by her story, positive attitude, and zest for life. That’s why we’re holding “Valentines for Kaley” on Saturday, February 5, 2011 – an event to benefit the NTAF fund-raising campaign in honor of Kaley. The event will include a Dessert Buffet, Live Music, Silent Auction, and “Wall of Wine” Raffle.

Saturday, February 5, 2011
6:30-9:00 pm
Colonial Church
6200 Colonial Way, Edina

To learn more about Kaley and her experiences, please visit at Kaley’s blog, BunnsPrairie.com.

Thank you in advance for your support. Please find the downloadable flyer here.

All Inquiries should be addressed to KaleyRoteringFundraiser@gmail.com

Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. This campaign is administered by the National Transplant Assistance Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing fund-raising assistance to transplant and catastrophic injury patients. Information: 800-642-8399

Last night’s tour was awesome! Both in terms of being able to see a beautiful building but also because of the generous nature the Minnesota Twins and of those who attended. Because of the Twins’ donation of the tour we were able to raise $1150 for Kaley!

I sent the email to the PT folks asking to start doing PT with Kaley because we’ve secured enough money (the tour money plus money from other donors/events) to fund PT through February, when we will hopefully get another infusion of money from the bigger fundraising event we’re working on.

Thank you to everyone!
