1/31/06 Update

Tuesday, January 31st, 2006

Kaley has been out since Friday January 27th 2006. Her weekend was pretty rough though. She felt very nauseous all weekend, and at dialysis on Monday she was running a fever of over 100° F so they sent her to the ER with some blood cultures. They gave her some Tylenol for her fever and were going to see if anything grew out of her cultures. Since her normal blood tests all came back fine, they sent her home and told her to just keep treating the symptoms and her fever and nausea were hopefully viral infections. To be safe, they gave her a single does of an antibiotic. After that she was feeling ravenously hungry, which was great considering she hadn’t eaten much all weekend. We think she’s got an infection of some sort, but we won’t know until the samples are cultured, but for today she’s just really tired and running a mild fever.

Update Frequency

I’ve received a request that I post updates twice a week if my schedule allows it, so I will be trying to accommodate this on Tuesday or Wednesday and on Saturday. That way, Kaley’s friends at Colonial Church and her Chorale friends will have updates to share when they see each other.

Hello World!

Thursday, January 26th, 2006

My name is Andy. Before I jump into who I am and the some background information relating to myself and Kaley, I would like to thank Taylor Kent (aka The Snarky Avenger) for his prayers, support, and for putting this site together and hosting it for us.

The purpose of this blog is to disseminate accurate and relatively up-to-date information about the current state of Kaley’s health. In the two years that I have know her, I have seen her health change hour by hour, making it nearly impossible for anyone not in the same room with her to keep up on how she is doing. My apologies for everyone who has called or gone down to visit her at the University of Minnesota, Fairview hospital only to find out she had been discharged. Hopefully with this site, friends and family can read first hand how Kaley is doing.
