Well,
we didn’t make it through the night. It’s 3:10am right now, and I just sent Kaley in on the ambulance into the U of M Medical Center (where the transplant was performed). In the ER they can start her on some meds that will help get her to the second dose of antibiotic that will continue to fight off her UTI.
Apparently her UTI is a very rare resistent strain of something that resist many of the common antibiotics. Kaley’s transplant coordinator, bless her heart considering her primary job is to be the liason with patients, told us last night that if this antibiotic doesn’t work there probably won’t be any that will. I don’t believe her, but this kind of doom and gloom attitude has been a reccurring theme with many of the UMMC staffers. I can’t help but think of Tom Smykowski from the movie “Office Space”:
“Well-well look. I already told you: I deal with the god damn customers so the engineers don’t have to. I have people skills; I am good at dealing with people. Can’t you understand that? What the hell is wrong with you people?”
Obviously these coordinators have similiar jobs and skills.
