Kaley’s Flooded Room Restored

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

So 2 months after Kaley’s room was flooded, she was finally able to return to her private room. The room doesn’t look too different from what it looked like before hand, but it is clean and has a new floor and some fresh paint, so that’s good. The original estimate for how long she would be displaced was 2 weeks (gotta love management’s blind optimism!). In any case she is back in her private room.

Kaley’s Vision Improved

Monday, September 14th, 2009

So Kaley’s poor vision was partially caused by scar tissue built up on her new lens. Kaley did very well in following directions and keeping her chin and head in the correct location so as to allow the doctor to clear off the lens. He said he normally uses about 30 or so hits with the laser but this time it took 150 hits! He opened a small opening (kind of link using a small aperture in photography) so in good lighting her vision is better, but in bad light it’s worse. We need to make sure we keep her room well lit!

Otherwise things are going about the same. I toured a fabulous group home in the St. Anthony area that I am hoping will have a spot open up soon. Kaley would be a great fit there. They would give better service and my daily commute would go from 55 miles round trip to more like 15 miles!
